TERMS OF SERVICE

1. Service Description

PDF Pocket Knife (pdf-pocket-knife.com) provides online PDF processing tools. The service consists of:

• Free tools (Edit, Merge, Rotate, Split, Extract, Watermark) — run entirely in your browser. No server processing, no upload, no account required.
• Pro tools (OCR, Compress, Convert, PDF to Word, Protect, Redact, PDF/A, Sign, Fill Form) — process files on our servers with a fixed per-file fee.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PDF Pocket Knife, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the service.

You must be at least 16 years of age (or the age of legal capacity in your jurisdiction) to use this service.

3. Pricing & Payments

• Pro tool prices are displayed in USD, EUR, or BRL before you confirm any operation
• The price shown at the time you initiate processing is the price you pay — no hidden fees
• All payments are one-time charges processed by Stripe
• There are no subscriptions, recurring charges, token packs, or credit balances
• By making a payment, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service
• We reserve the right to change prices at any time; price changes do not affect transactions already initiated

4. Refund Policy

We offer a full refund if:

• A pro tool fails to process your file
• The output is corrupted or unusable
• The result does not match the advertised functionality of the tool

To request a refund:

• Contact support@pdf-pocket-knife.com within 7 days of the transaction
• Include your Stripe receipt or transaction reference
• Refunds are processed within 48 hours

Refunds are not available for: user error (e.g., uploading the wrong file), change of mind after successful processing, or issues caused by corrupted source files.

5. File Handling & Your Content

• You retain all rights to your files — we claim no ownership, licence, or other rights to any content you process
• Free tools: your files never leave your browser. We have no access to them
• Pro tools: files are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3), processed, and permanently deleted within 1 hour of processing
• We do not access, read, analyse, or use your files for any purpose beyond delivering the requested service
• Each processed file is available for a maximum of 5 downloads

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload files containing malware, viruses, or other malicious code
• Use the service to process content that is illegal under applicable law
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to exploit the processing API
• Automate bulk requests without prior written permission
• Use the service to violate third-party rights, including copyright and privacy rights
• Circumvent security measures or access controls

We reserve the right to suspend or block access for violations of these terms without prior notice.

7. Intellectual Property

The PDF Pocket Knife name, logo, website design, and underlying software are our property or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of the service.

Open-source libraries used in our service are provided under their respective licences.

8. Service Availability

• The service is provided on an "as available" basis with no guaranteed uptime or SLA
• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any tool at any time
• We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes
• Scheduled maintenance will be announced when possible

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind
• We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose
• We are not liable for any data loss, file corruption, or damages arising from the use of the service
• Our maximum aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim
• Always keep backups of your original files

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or death/personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including EU and Brazilian consumer protection law).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from: your use of the service, the content you process, or your violation of these terms. This clause does not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable consumer protection law.

11. Governing Law & Disputes

• EU/EEA users: These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Portuguese courts. Your consumer rights under EU law are fully preserved.
• Brazil users: These terms are governed by Brazilian law. The Brazilian Consumer Defence Code (CDC) applies. The competent forum is that of the consumer's domicile.
• UK users: These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
• Other users: These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal.

Nothing in these terms overrides mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.

12. Termination

We may suspend or block access to the service for violation of the acceptable use policy. Since no user accounts exist, there is nothing to "terminate" in the traditional sense. Processed files that have been paid for remain available for download during the stated period (up to 5 downloads within the session validity).

13. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision. Material changes will be announced on our website. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
